Tom Kidd is a talented and prolific American artist, author of nearly 500 SF and Fantasy book and magazine covers from 1980 to the present.
In 2003 he received the « World Fantasy Award for Best Artist », as well as many other awards in this category and has been nominated several times for the Hugo award.
His style is very much in harmony with Vance’s stories, which has not been missed by Terry Dowling and Jonathan Strahan, who have published several thematic Vance anthologies with original covers by Tom Kidd, from the deluxe edition of « The Dying Earth » in 2000 (for which he did the very inspiring interior illustrations) to « Grand Crusade » in 2015, the fifth volume of « The Early Jack Vance » series. We must add the 2009 George R.R. Martin and Gardner Dozois tribute collection: « Songs of the Dying Earth »
